MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University golf team will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday at the Cullan Brown Collegiate at Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Kentucky.
Golfers will tee off Monday at 9 a.m. on the par-71, 7,255-yard course with 36 holes of competition, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday, also starting at 9 a.m. This will be West Virginia's first time competing in this tournament.
West Virginia's lineup will consist of seniors
Westy McCabe and
Kaleb Wilson, sophomores
Ryan Leach and
Nick Turowski and freshman
Jack Michael. Fellow freshman
Brody Burgess will compete as an individual.
No. 32 West Virginia will be one of 15 teams in the event. Joining the Mountaineers and host Kentucky will be North Carolina State, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Cincinnati, Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Toledo, North Alabama, Lipscomb, Memphis, Penn State and Kennesaw State. Tennessee and Vanderbilt will have individuals at the event.
On Monday and Tuesday, three WVU golfers will compete in the Red Flash Invitational in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, at Sunnehanna Country Club. The Mountaineers will be represented by junior
Harrison Thompson, sophomore
Aidan Dortch and freshman
Gabe Schmitz. Last year, Turowski won the event.
The Mountaineers have a record of 41-2-0 after three tournaments, winning the Island Resort Collegiate, finishing third at the Gopher Invitational and capturing the title at last week's Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational.
