MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team turned in a strong showing at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational, finishing fourth in a highly competitive field that featured six of the nation's top ten programs.
The Mountaineers tallied 190 team points to close out their regular season at the Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
Sophomore
Joy Naukot led the way with a tenth place finish. Redshirt sophomore
Mercy Kinyanjui followed in 17th, while redshirt senior
Emily Bryce placed 22nd to give WVU three finishers inside the top 25. Juniors
Lexi Lamb and
Anastasia Chepkorir rounded out the scoring five in 62nd and 79th respectively.
West Virginia will now shift its focus to postseason competition, returning to action on Friday, Oct. 31 at the Big 12 Championships in Lawrence, Kan.
