DENVER, Colo. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team tallied a season-high 194.1 team score in a dual meet at No. 16 Denver inside Magness Arena in Denver, Colorado, on Sunday afternoon.
 
The host Pioneers secured first place in the dual meet with a 195.975, followed by the Mountaineers (1-3, 0-1 Big 12) in second. West Virginia posted event scores of 48.35 on vault, 48.525 on the uneven bars, 48.575 on balance beam and 48.65 on floor exercise. WVU's score on beam marked a new season high on the event.
 
Opening the meet on bars for the fourth time this season, senior Brooke Alban led the lineup with a season-high 9.8. Fifth-year senior Trinity Macy and sophomore Amber Lowe followed with a pair of 9.75's, while junior Brooke Irwin secured a 9.65. Sophomore Jayden McDonnell capped the scoring with a 9.575.
 
Moving to vault, freshman Karleigh DiCello paced the rotation with a 9.725, while two scores of 9.675 from freshmen Emerson Smith and Taylor Tuohy came next. Junior Carlee Nelson posted a 9.65 and freshman Sophia Rice secured a 9.625 to complete the scoring.
 
On floor, the squad was led by a 9.8 from sophomore Jurnee Lane, while Alban was just behind her with a 9.775. Smith and freshman Riley Maness secured matching 9.75's, which marked a career best for Maness. Macy rounded out the lineup with a 9.575, making her Mountaineer debut on the event.
 
Wrapping up the meet on beam, senior Anna Leigh made her season debut on the event and led the way with a 9.8. Lane followed with a 9.75, while sophomore Julia Brown added a 9.7 and classmate Kaylei Adams tallied a 9.675. DiCello finished out the meet for WVU with a 9.65.
 
In the final event results, a pair of Mountaineers made the beam podium, as Leigh tied for the event win and Lane finished behind her in third.
 
West Virginia now returns home for a big matchup against a pair of ranked foes when No. 3 Florida and No. 5 Utah come to Morgantown on Sunday, Feb. 2.
