
McCabe Qualifies for Paris Olympics

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– Senior Ceili McCabe of the West Virginia University Track and Field team qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Canadian Athletics Bell Track and Field Championships in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on Thursday evening.
McCabe crossed the finish line in first place during the women's senior race, collecting a time of 9:32.97 to become the second Mountaineer in program history to qualify for the women's steeplechase at the Olympic Games.
Additionally, redshirt junior Cassandra Williamson competed in the women's 800-meter dash on Friday night at the Canadian Athletics Bell Track and Field Championship. Williamson finished 16th overall in the preliminary round with a time of 2:08.58.
Redshirt senior Sarah Tait added a personal best time of 9:49.88 with a fourth-place finish in the women's steeplechase at the UK Athletics Championships Manchester in Manchester, England on Saturday afternoon.
The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in Paris, France on July 26-August 11. McCabe will compete in round one of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase on August 4 at 4:05 a.m. ET/10:05 CET.
