
Three Mountaineers Advance to NCAA Outdoor Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team qualified three student-athletes for the NCAA Outdoor Championships following competition at the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky.
Joy Naukot led the way for the Mountaineers, placing second in the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:33.18 to earn an automatic bid to nationals. The performance secured Naukot's second career trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
In the high jump, Annishka McDonald secured her place at the NCAA Championships after clearing 1.82 meters to finish fourth overall.
Mercy Kinyanjui joined the duo at nationals after placing eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:50.38.
Also competing for the Mountaineers, Emily Bryce finished 19th in the 10,000 meters (34:00.06), Anastasia Chepkorir placed 20th (34:07.96) and Lexi Lamb finished 25th (34:15.60). Kishay Rowe represented WVU in the 800 meters, placing 27th in 2:05.07.
Naukot, McDonald and Kinyanjui will now represent West Virginia at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, June 10-13.
