DeVries Announces Eduardo Andre Signing

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University men's basketball coach Darian DeVries has announced the signing of Eduardo Andre to a grant-in-aid for the 2024-25 season.

Andre, a 6-foot-11, 250-pound center from London, England, played the last two seasons at Fresno State and his first two seasons at Nebraska. He will be a fifth-year senior at WVU.

For his career, he has played in 99 games with 33 starts. Andre has scored 533 points, grabbed 409 rebounds, blocked 86 shots and has 65 steals. He has shot 60.2 percent from the field for his career.

"Eduardo is a big addition to our program," DeVries said. "He will give us terrific rim protection on the defensive end. Offensively, he will bolster our frontcourt. He really runs well and fits in great with our transition game."

This past season, Andre played in 20 games, starting 18, before a leg injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season. He averaged 7.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, shooting 60.4 percent from the field. Andre had a season-high 17 points against Fresno Pacific and 16 points against Idaho State. Andre totaled 12 double-figure scoring games and posted six double-doubles with five coming during conference play. He recorded his first double-double at Fresno State against Vanderbilt, posting 10 rebounds and 12 rebounds. Andre had a string of three consecutive double-doubles in his first three starts, posting 14 and 15 against Air Force, 16 and 13 versus UNLV and 13 and 12 at Boise State. His 15 rebounds against Air Force were a season high, along with his five blocks. In the second game against Air Force, he recorded a career-high 26 points on the road. Andre ended the season with back-to-back double-doubles, going for 10 and 10 against Chicago State and had 20 points and 10 rebounds against Colorado State in the first round of the Mountain West tournament.

Andre spent his first two seasons at Nebraska, playing in 50 games. At Nebraska, he averaged 2.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, averaging 10.4 minutes per contest.

Andre didn't begin playing competitive basketball until he was 14 years old. He played two seasons at Woodrow Wilson High in Dallas and was ranked among the top 10 recruits in Texas in the class of 2020. Andre was named the District 11-5A Defensive Player of the Year.

Andre was born in Luanda, Angola, before moving to London as a 4-year-old.
