
Rowing Prepares For George Mason Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rowing team will travel to Fairfax Station, Virginia, on Sunday, April 21, to compete in the George Mason Invitational on the Occoquan Reservoir at Sandy Run Regional Park.
The Mountaineers are set for multiple entries, allowing for maximum racing opportunities for the athletes. Other teams attending the regatta include Bucknell, Delaware, Duquesne, Eastern Michigan, George Mason, George Washington, Loyola University Maryland, Robert Morris, Saint Joseph's and Villanova. The squad is looking forward to these matchups as they should be very competitive.
Heats for the events will be held in the morning, and each boat will advance to either the grand final or petite final for the afternoon races. WVU is planning to send out a 1V8+, 2V8+, 1V4+, 2V4+, 3V8+ and 3V4+. Competition will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 2:30 p.m. with a 90-minute break between the heats and finals.
Spectators should be able to park in C parking lot and walk across to B parking lot to catch a shuttle to the finish line area. There also is a trail to walk to get there. Pets are not permitted in the park.
