
West Virginia Falls on the Road to No. 27 Texas Tech

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team lost to No. 27 Texas Tech, 4-0, in Lubbock, Texas, on Thursday.
West Virginia (14-10, 3-9 Big 12) began the match in doubles play with the pairing of junior Michaela Kucharova and senior Momoko Nagato facing No. 7 Metka Komac and Avelina Sayfetdinova in the No. 1 seed match
Kucharova and Nagato lost in the No. 1 spot, 6-0, before freshman Maya Bordereau and junior Camilla Bossi lost, 6-1, in the No. 2 seed match.
In singles, Bossi battled with No. 49 Cristina Tiglea in the No. 1 seed match as she took the first set, 6-3. The match was forced to a third set after Tiglea won the second, 6-1.
In the No. 2 singles match, graduate student Love-Star Alexis contended with Mariya Polishchuk. The first set went to a tiebreaker with Alexis falling, 7-6 (1). However, Alexis won the second set, 6-3, to force the deciding third set.
Both matches would go unfinished as Texas Tech clinched the match with a win in the No. 6 seed match.
