WVU to Face No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 75 Kansas State on the Road

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team will hit the road for the second time this season in conference play to face No. 1 Oklahoma State on Thursday, March 28, and No. 75 Kansas State on Saturday, March 30.
West Virginia (13-5, 2-5 Big 12) defeated Houston on March 22, to earn its second Big 12 Conference win. This is the first time the program has won two or more Big 12 matches in a single season since joining the conference in 2013.
WVU will also finish the season with a .500 or better record for the first time since 2010 when the team went 17-7.
The Mountaineers have never beaten Oklahoma State. West Virginia defeated Kansas State last season, 4-2, in Morgantown for the program's first win against the Wildcats.
Five Mountaineers currently have a winning record in singles play including, freshman Maya Bordereau, redshirt sophomore Maja Dodik, juniors Michaela Kucharova and Tatiana Lipatova and senior Momoko Nagato. Dodik sports the best overall record at 12-5, and Nagato is the only other player with double-digit wins at 11-5 overall.
As a team, West Virginia is 63-41 in singles play.
Throughout the season, the Mountaineers have relied regularly on the pairing of Bordereau and Dodik. The doubles team has been stellar for West Virginia, sitting at 10-3 this season in the No. 2 spot.
The No. 1 doubles pairing of Kucharova and Nagato is 9-4. As a team, WVU is 27-20 in doubles play.
West Virginia will battle Oklahoma State at the Greenwood Tennis Center at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday. The Mountaineers will face Kansas State at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
