
West Virginia Set to Host Stan Romanoski Open

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team will host the annual Stan Romanoski Open on March 22-23 at the Track and Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
Friday's competition is set to kick off with the men's hammer throw at 10 a.m. ET, followed by the women's hammer throw at 1 p.m.
On Saturday, field events will begin at 10 a.m. with the men's discus followed by the women's and men's shot put. On the track, the women's 5,000 meters marks the first event of the day at 11 a.m. The meet will conclude with the men's 4x400 meter relay at 7:50 p.m.

Teams across the Division I, II, III and club level are set to compete at this year's Stan Romanoski Open.
Friday marks the first of four home meets for the Mountaineers as they host the Mountaineer Twilight on April 19-20, the Mountaineer Showcase on April 27 and the WVU Last Chance on May 4.
The Stan Romanoski Open is named in honor of former men's cross country and track and field coach Stan Romanoski, who served at the team's helm from 1958-80. During his tenure at WVU, Romanoski posted an overall cross country record of 109-81, along with a 70-39-1 track and field record.
Last time out, West Virginia competed at the USF Alumni Invitational on March 15-16 in Tampa, Florida. The meet was highlighted by redshirt senior Mikenna Vanderheyden who claimed fourth place in the women's 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:06.72. In the field, redshirt freshman Annishka McDonald had her outdoor debut in the women's high jump, tying for sixth at 1.70 meters.
