MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Recent graduate Maddie Moreau of the West Virginia University women's soccer team has signed a professional contract with Bay FC in the NWSL, the club announced on Friday.
Moreau becomes the 37th professional Mountaineer in program history, after teammate Maya McCutcheon signed a professional contract with the NC Courage earlier this week. Moreau's contract signs her with Bay FC for the club's inaugural 2024 season, with an option for 2025 as well.
Hailing from Lafayette, Louisiana, Moreau came to West Virginia in 2022 after spending three seasons at LSU. During her time in Morgantown, she played in every game of her two-year Mountaineer career, starting 41 matches as a consistent member of WVU's dominant back line. She logged 3,622 career minutes in Gold and Blue, including ranking third on the team with 1,573 minutes in her final season in 2023.
A two-time co-captain, Moreau scored three goals and added two assists for eight career points at WVU. She also added a pair of game winners for the Mountaineers during her time in Morgantown.
A member of the Academic All-Big 12 Team, she graduated in December with her bachelor's degree in psychology.
