
West Virginia Defeats Cleveland State, Radford in Doubleheader

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team defeated Cleveland State and Radford in a doubleheader on Saturday at Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown.
West Virginia (7-1) began the day by defeating Cleveland State, 5-2. The doubles pairing of junior Michaela Kucharova and senior Momoko Nagato defeated Cleveland State's Sima Heren and Bethany Yauch, 6-4. The Mountaineers earned the doubles point when redshirt sophomore Maja Dodik and freshman Maya Bordereau won, 6-1.
West Virginia followed up doubles play by winning four of the six singles matches. Dodik defeated Yauch, 6-2, 7-5, and Nagato beat Cleveland State's Tereze Vevere, 7-5, 6-2.
The Mountaineers locked up the win over Cleveland State when Kucharova beat Filippa Frogner, 6-1, 6-1.
West Virginia kept things rolling against Radford, winning, 4-1.
Dodik won the first singles match for the Mountaineers, defeating Radford's Emily Brandow, 6-2, 6-1. Nagato then earned her second singles victory of the day, defeating Radford's Lexi Smolder, 6-3, 6-3.
Bordereau sealed the win for West Virginia with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Radford's Michaela Stephens.
