MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Graduate student
Ceili McCabe of the West Virginia University track and field team set the program record in the women's 3,000 meters on Saturday afternoon, with a time of 8:45.67. With the finish, McCabe earned a third-place finish in the race, inside of the Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
Additionally, graduate student
Sarah Tait boasted a personal best time in the event, crossing the finish line in 9:03.78, earning a 20
th place finish. With the time, Tait becomes the third fastest Mountaineer to run the 3,000 meters in program history.
West Virginia was rounded out by redshirt junior
Emily Bryce in the 3,000 meters, as she earned the final personal best of the day at 9:26.62. To note, Bryce shaved off over a minute and 30 seconds of her previous best time with the finish.
Next, West Virginia will remain off until they return to the track on Jan. 17 and 18 for the YSU Collegiate Invitational and the Nittany Lion Challenge, respectively. The YSU Collegiate Invitational will be held on Friday at the Watson and Tressel Training Site in Youngstown, Ohio. Additionally, the Nittany Lion Challenge will take place in University Park, Pennsylvania at the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.
