
West Virginia Opens 2024-25 Indoor Season in Boston and Youngstown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team opens the 2024-25 indoor season on Dec. 6 and 7, sending split squads to the YSU Icebreaker and the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, respectively.
The YSU Icebreaker will be held on Friday at the Watson and Tressel Training Site in Youngstown, Ohio. Friday's meet is set to kick off at 1 p.m. ET.
West Virginia will compete in ten different events in Youngstown, including the women's 60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, mile, 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters, high jump and long jump.
The Mountaineers will then head to the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Saturday, which will take place at the Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Saturday's meet is set to begin at 10:15 a.m.
WVU is slated to compete in the women's 3,000 meters in Boston, as graduate students Ceili McCabe and Sarah Tait along with redshirt junior Emily Bryce will race.
West Virginia returns to the indoor track after finishing 12th at the Big 12 Indoor Championships during the 2023-24 season. The team of McCabe, sophomore Kishay Rowe, Tait and alumna Mikenna Vanderheyden claimed first place in the women's DMR, winning the program's first Big 12 indoor title since 2021.
McCabe went on to finish sixth in the women's mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships, after running a personal and program best time of 4:29.26. With the performance, she earned her eighth All-America honor.
