MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rowing team begins its fall season on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the 54
th Annual Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This two-day event is not just a competition, it's a celebration of rowing that draws in more than 8,000 athletes and captivates up to 30,000 spectators from around the globe.
This is a head race of 3,800 meters on the Schuylkill River. West Virginia will begin competition at 11 a.m., launching four boats against 74 other boats in the Women's Championship 4s with coxswain. Later in the afternoon, the crew will row in the Women's Club Championship 8s with 50 other boats at 2:25 p.m. The Mountaineers will finish the day with one of seven boats in the Women's Collegiate Double at 3:30 p.m. and one of 22 boats in the Women's Championship 8s at 4 p.m.
