
West Virginia Hits the Road to Face Marshall, Virginia Tech

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team hits the road for the first time in the 2024 season to face Marshall in Huntington, W.Va., on Saturday, Jan. 27, and Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., on Sunday, Jan. 28.
West Virginia's match against Marshall is slated for noon ET. The Mountaineers will face Virginia Tech at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28. Results will be available at WVUsports.com.
Last season, West Virginia (2-0) beat Marshall 4-3, in Morgantown. WVU fell to Virginia Tech, 4-0. West Virginia is 26-17 against Marshall and 4-21 against Virginia Tech.
West Virginia began the 2024 season with wins against Duquesne and Morgan State on Jan. 20, at Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown.
The Mountaineers never faltered in both matches, winning 7-0 against Duquesne and Morgan State.
In her first appearance for West Virginia, freshman Maya Bordereau won both of her singles matches. The doubles pairing of Bordereau and redshirt sophomore Maja Dodik also won both of their doubles matches.
Graduate student Love-Star Alexis was dominant for the Mountaineers against Duquesne, winning her singles match, 6-3, 6-2. Alexis paired with graduate student Ting-Pei Chang in doubles, winning 6-4.
After winning her singles match against Duquesne, senior Momoko Nagato defeated Morgan State's Hannah Smith, 6-1, 6-1. Nagato paired with junior Michaela Kucharova in doubles play to win, 6-0.
