
Greeny Adds Pair of Transfers to 2024 Roster

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University volleyball head coach Jen Greeny has announced the addition of two student-athletes who have joined the squad for the 2024 season.
Joining West Virginia is Alexis Finnvold (Boca Raton, Florida) and Sydney Reed (Glenelg, Maryland).
"We are very excited for the addition of Alexis and Sydney to the West Virginia volleyball family," Greeny said. "They both bring exceptional talent and experience to this program, as we build for the future."
Alexis Finnvold / Setter / Boca Raton, Florida
Finnvold is a Boca Raton, Florida native and comes to West Virginia from Louisville, where she spent two seasons with the Cardinals. As a redshirt freshman during the 2022 season, Finnvold made her collegiate debut against Northern Kentucky in 2023, helping Louisville to a 3-0 win. Finnvold was a part of two trips to the NCAA tournament with the Cardinals, who reached the championship match versus Texas in 2022 and the Elite Eight against Pitt in 2023. Prior to Louisville, the setter played for Tribe Volleyball and was named to the AVCA Phenom Watch List in 2019. Finnvold led Boca Raton Community High School to back-to-back District Championships in 2019 and 2020. Finnvold was also named first-team all district in 2020 and all-district honorable mention in 2019. The daughter of Adriana and Gar, Finnvold is majoring in exercise physiology with a minor in general business.
Sydney Reed / Libero / Glenelg, Maryland
A Glenelg, Maryland, native, Reed arrives to Morgantown following a three-year stint at Wisconsin and one season at North Carolina. Reed was a part of three straight Big Ten Championships with the Badgers and was named to the Academic All-Big Ten list two years straight in 2022 and 2023. The libero was a part of Wisconsin's first NCAA Championship in 2021. Reed was also apart of the squad's 2023 trip to the NCAA Final Four match versus Texas. Reed was named the 2019-20 Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Virginia, competing for Flint Hill. The libero was named as a Prep Volleyball High School All-American and a Senior National Player of the Year finalist. During the 2019-20 season, Reed was named the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Player of the Year. She was also a three time first-team all state selection. The daughter of Melanie and Earl "J", Reed is pursuing her master's in Business Administration.
