
Caldeira Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore Marcus Caldeira of the No. 10 West Virginia University men's soccer team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week presented by University Apartments.
The highlight of the year came on Sept. 9, against No. 3 Portland as Caldeira scored with just three seconds left to give the Mountaineers a 1-0 victory over the Pilots at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
Earlier in the week, he found the back of the net against American in a 2-1 win in the nation's capital. He leads the nation with six goals and has scored in all five games this season.
The Mississauga, Ontario, native will look to keep his scoring streak alive on Friday, Sept. 15, as undefeated WVU heads to No. 6 UCF to open Sun Belt play. Kickoff from Orlando is set for 7 p.m. ET.
This Week in Men's Soccer: The 10th-ranked Mountaineers head to Orlando to take on sixth-ranked UCF on Sept. 15 at 7 p.m., to begin Sun Belt Conference action … both teams have not lost this year as WVU is 5-0 and the Knights are 4-0-1 … the two teams have met three times before with UCF holding a 1-0-2 series lead, but this will be the first meeting as members of the Sun Belt.
