
Mountaineers Falter Against Loyola

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (2-3) fell in a road loss on Friday night against Loyola (Md.) (3-2) at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.
The Mountaineers benefited from consistent attack errors by Loyola, winning the third set 25-19, but the Greyhounds went on to win sets one (25-23), two (25-21) and four (25-20).
West Virginia was held to a .177 hitting percentage against the Greyhounds, putting out 43 kills.
Junior outside hitter Hailey Green led the squad offensively with 15 kills and 37 attacks.
Freshman middle blocker Maddy McGath was an offensive weapon for the Mountaineers, adding 10 kills and hit .500.
Defensively, fifth-year libero Camilla Covas collected 10 digs on the night.
Sophomore middle blocker Tierney Jackson tied a career high with eight solo blocks.
The Mountaineers combined for 46 digs and 10 blocks, putting a defensive stop to Loyola in the third set.
Sophomore outside hitter Bailey Miller ranks 30th nationally in kills per set, at 4.42. Paired with nationally ranked teammate redshirt-senior setter Lauren DeLo who ranks 28th in assists per set with 10.75.
Overall, West Virginia ranks 24th in assists per set with 13.46 and 27th in kills per set with 14.46.
