
McCabe to Compete at National Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore Ceili McCabe of the West Virginia University track and field team travels to Albequerque, New Mexico, to compete in the 3,000-meter run at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at 7 p.m. ET on March 11, at the Albuquerque Convention Center hosted by the University of New Mexico.
Streaming for the National Championship on Saturday will begin with the early session at 1:30 p.m., and the late session follows at 9 p.m. Live results and streaming can be found at wvusports.com.
Last season at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, then-freshman Ceili McCabe earned eighth in the 3,000-meter finals with a time of 9:05.09 to earn All-American honors.
The Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, native enters the competition having recorded the fastest 3,000-meter time in the Big 12 this season, when she set the WVU program record with a time of 8:50.44 at the Boston University Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener on Dec. 3, 2022. Her performance also is good enough for fourth best in the nation. Of note, McCabe's mile time of 4:31.57 that she recorded at the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge is the best time in the Big 12 this season and the seventh best time in the nation.
Action on Saturday begins with high jump, triple jump and shot put in the field. Competition on the track wraps up with the finals of the mile, 60-meter sprint, 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, 60-meter hurdles, 200-meter sprint, 3,000-meter run and 4x400 relay.
