Box Score MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team (11-5, 1-2 Big 12) fell to Baylor, 6-1, Friday evening at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
Friday evening's competition against the Bears began with doubles play. Sophomore
Camilla Bossi and senior
Ting-Pei Chang fell short to Baylor's Paula Barañano and Daniella Dimitrov, 1-6. Baylor claimed the doubles point after redshirt freshman
Maja Dodik and sophomore
Tatiana Lipatova were defeated by Alina Shcherbinina and Brooke Thompson, 2-6.
At No. 2 doubles, sophomore/junior pair
Michaela Kucharova and
Momoko Nagato ended unfinished after the Bears clinched the doubles point.
During singles play, Dodik, Lipatova, Hsieh and Bossi suffered losses in two sets to the Bears.
Kucharova claimed West Virginia's only victory of the day at No. 3 singles, defeating Liubov Kostenko, 4-6, 6-4(10-7).
At No. 2 singles, Chang fought to force a tiebreaker in the second set, but ultimately fell to Sahdiieva, 3-6, 6-7(1).
