Box Score MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team (11-4, 1-1 Big 12) defeated Dayton, 7-0, Saturday afternoon in Morgantown.
Saturday morning's matchup against the Flyers began with doubles play. Junior/sophomore pair
Momoko Nagato and
Michaela Kucharova claimed the first victory of the dual match with a 6-0 sweep over Dayton's Laura Greb and Elizabeth Hamilton. Redshirt freshman
Maja Dodik and sophomore
Tatiana Lipatova defeated Erica Wojcikiewicz and Jordan Mitchell, 7-5, to clinch the doubles point for the Mountaineers.
Sophomore/senior pair
Camilla Bossi and
Ting-Pei Chang fell to Natalie Osiecki and Neena Katauskas, 3-6.
Moving on to singles play, Chang claimed the first singles victory of the day against Osiecki in three sets, 6-0, 3-6, 6-3. Up next, Dodik defeated Greb, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
Kucharova fought through three sets and a tiebreaker to clinch the match for West Virginia over Dayton's Katauskas, 6-3, 6-7(11), 6-2.
At No. 5 and 6 singles, Lipatova and fifth-year senior
Pei-Ju Hsieh were victorious in two sets, respectively.
