West Virginia Continues Split Squad Action

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team competes in two meets on Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11. WVU contends in the Marshall Invite hosted by Marshall University at Jeff Small Track in Huntington, West Virginia, and in the BU Valentine hosted by Boston University at the BU Track and Tennis Center in Boston.
Friday's action in Huntington is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, with field and running events, and Saturday begins at 10:30 a.m. The BU Valentine commences at 10 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday. Live results can be found on wvusports.com.
Friday marks the second consecutive weekend that WVU has competed in split squad action. The Mountaineers also made the trip to Boston last weekend. During competition on Feb. 3, the distance medley relay team consisting of redshirt senior Mikaela Lucki, senior Tessa Constantine, sophomore Cassandra Williamson and her classmate Ceili McCabe set the DMR program record, crossing the finish line at 10:59.09. The time is good enough for 11th best in the NCAA this season and the 25th best all-time.
Redshirt senior Hayley Jackson and Williamson also ran the 800-meter at the Scarlet and White Invite in Boston. Jackson's 2:07.14 time is good enough for fourth best in program history, while Williamson finished at 2:08.28 to earn fifth.
Friday's events at Marshall are the 4,000-meter DMR, 5,000-meter, high jump, pole vault and weight throw. The action continues Saturday with long jump, triple jump, 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter dash, mile, 400-meter sprint, 800-meter, 200-meter dash, 3,000-meter run and 1,600-meter relay.
The Valentine holds the 5,000-meter, 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter sprint, 800-meter, 400-meter sprint, 200-meter dash, 1,000-meter run, 4x400 relay, mile, 3,000-meter, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, shot put and high jump on Friday. The women's DMR is on Saturday.
