Mountaineers Tee Off in Puerto Rico Sunday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University golf team returns to action on Sunday at the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Dorado, Puerto Rico.
The Mountaineers will tee off at 8:30 a.m. local time on Sunday and Monday, followed by an 8 a.m. tee time on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,112-yard TPC Dorado Beach. Golfers will play 18 holes each day.
Fourteen teams are scheduled to compete, including Auburn, Augusta, Ball State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Drexel, Duke, Kennesaw State, Old Dominion, Rutgers, UNCG, Virginia, Army West Point and West Virginia.
Senior Trent Tipton, juniors Jackson Davenport and Will Stakel, sophomore Max Green and freshman Westy McCabe will represent the Mountaineers in team scoring. Fifth-year senior Kurtis Grant, junior Oli Ménard, sophomore Todd Duncan and freshman Kaleb Wilson will compete as individuals.
"We are looking forward to competing in Puerto Rico this weekend," coach Sean Covich said. "The Dorado Beach Collegiate will feature some great teams, like Auburn, Virginia and Duke. Our guys are excited for this opportunity. We just need to stick with our routine, focus on the simple things and believe that good golf is right around the corner for us."
