MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team wrapped up day one of the Big 12 Conference Championships hosted by Texas tech University at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas, on Friday, Feb. 24.
Junior
Charlotte Wood and senior
Mikaela Lucki ran in the one mile and qualified for the Big 12 one mile finals tomorrow. Wood crossed the finish line at 4:48.09, while Lucki followed with a time of 4:51.50. The Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Women's one mile championships will be held at 3:40 p.m. ET tomorrow.

Ceili McCabe earned second for West Virginia in the distance medley relay finals. The squad finished the relay in 11:23.76.
Junior
Mikenna Vanderheyden and redshirt senior
Hayley Jackson qualified for tomorrow's 1,000-meter run final after finishing top-three in their respective heats. Jackson ran the fastest 1,000 meters at the championships with a time of 2:48.47. Vanderheyden secured third in her heart with a time of 2:49.23. The final starts at 4:50 p.m. on Saturday.
Williamson qualified for the Big 12 800-meter finals after finishing her qualifier in 2:08.22. Williamson finished fifth in qualifying, and the 800-meter final is slated for 5:10 p.m.
"This is as many women as we have ever had competing on the final day of competition," coach Sean Cleary said. "Qualifying five for the finals on the track along with a slew of women in the 3,000 and the high jump makes for an exciting day."
