WVU Heads to Lubbock for Big 12 Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team travels to Lubbock, Texas, to compete in the 2023 Big 12 Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25, at the Sports Performance Center hosted by Texas Tech University.
Friday and Saturday's action begins at 11 a.m. ET, with field and running events. Live results and streaming can be found at wvusports.com.
Last season, then-sophomore Jo-Lauren Keane set the WVU program record in the 800-meter with a time of 2:04.49. The Mountaineers claimed seven Big 12 honors over the two-day competition last season, including then-senior Hayley Jackson, who claimed her tenth conference award.
Three women's Big 12 track and field teams rank in the top 25, with Texas at No. 1, Texas Tech at No. 14 and Oklahoma State at No. 23.
Friday's field events include long jump, pole vault and weight throw. On the track, runners will compete in the 800-meter, mile, 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter dash, 600-yard run, 400-meter sprint, 1000-meter run, 200-meter sprint, 5000-meter run and the distance medley relay. The pentathlon and heptathlon also take place on Friday.
Action continues Saturday with shot put, triple jump and high jump in the field. Competition on the track wraps up with the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter dash, mile, 600-yard run, 400-meter sprint, 100-meter run, 800-meter, 200-meter sprint, 3000-meter run and 4x400 relay.
