MORGANTOWN, W.Va.
– The West Virginia University men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first day of competition at the WVU Invitational on Thursday at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
Following the first day of the invitational, West Virginia is in second place behind Navy (422) with 381 points. The men's team (1-1, 1-0 Big 12) is behind Navy (330) with 226 points. The women's team (0-2, 0-1 Big 12) is in second place behind William and Mary (156) with 155 points.

Braden Osborn and
Conner McBeth won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:19.10) event to begin the night for West Virginia.
Berlitz led the way for the Mountaineers, winning the 200-yard individual medley (1:44.78). McBeth finished just behind Navy's Jonah Harm (19.96) in the 50-yard freestyle event with a final time of 20.01.

Mia Cheatwood placed second in the 200-yard individual medley (1:59.98) behind William and Mary's Sophia Heilen (1:58.38). The relay team comprised of Cheatwood, freshman

Ada Szwabinska placed second in the 400-yard medley relay (3:42.41).
The preliminary round on Friday will begin at 9:30 a.m. The final round will begin at 6 p.m.
