Ell Named to Volleyball Preseason Team

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Big 12 announced its 2022 volleyball preseason awards, including the All-Big 12 Team, Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
West Virginia's Adrian Ell was named to the 2022 All-Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Team for the first time in her career.
"Adrian has worked hard to get to where she is today," coach Reed Sunahara said. "She had a great season last year. We are expecting bigger and better things from her this season."
Ell, entering her second season with the Mountaineers played in all 102 sets and finished the 2021-22 season ranked seventh in the Big 12 with 3.47 kills per set. Ell also ranked 10th in the Big 12 in service aces with .29 per set.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native, tallied 335 kills, with a total of 921 attacks on the season. She led the Mountaineers in kills in 16 matches. To highlight the season, Ell recorded a team and personal season-high 21 kills in a win over Oklahoma on Sept. 24.
Ell tallied 263 digs, with 12 matches being double-digits. Additionally, she tallied 11 double-doubles on the season and recorded a season-high 19 digs in a win over Oklahoma on Sept. 25.
The All-Big 12 First Team athlete, Ell, was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 First Team and was named AVCA All-Midwest Region.
Texas led the Preseason All-Big 12 team with four out of the 15 selections, including Logan Eggleston, Zoe Fleck, Asjia O'Neal and Madisen Skinner. Baylor, Kansas and Texas Tech each placed two student-athletes on the team while Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, TCU and West Virginia had one player each selected. It marks the first time since 2017 that all nine schools have been represented on the preseason team.
The preseason team and awards are voted on by the league's head coaches who are not permitted to vote for their own players.
