West Virginia Falls in Five

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Oct. 12, 2022) – The West Virginia University volleyball team fell to Iowa State in five sets at the Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa, on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
The Mountaineers (6-12, 0-6 Big 12) took the first two sets against Iowa State (11-7, 3-2 Big 12) but eventually fell to bring the match to a close.
Freshman outside hitter Bailey Miller led the match with 16 kills. The Quinlan, Texas, native also tallied 17 digs, good for her seventh double-double of the campaign.
Junior libero Skye Stokes broke the Big 12 Conference single-match 2022 season-high for digs, notching 36 digs. Stokes broke the record previously set by herself on Sept. 24, when she put up 31 digs.
Fifth-year senior outside hitter Adrian Ell racked up 25 assists to lead the team. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native also added 16 digs, earning her seventh double-double of the season.
Additionally, West Virginia notched 49 kills and 92 digs during the match.
The squad returns to action, as it comes home to Morgantown to face Chicago State, on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. ET, to begin a two-match homestand. Live streaming and live stats for the match can be found on WVUSports.com.
