MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's soccer team moved up to No. 13 in this week's edition of the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Top 25 National Poll, as announced on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers (6-2-1) jumped two spots in the rankings after tallying a pair of wins at James Madison on Sept. 16, and against Kent State on Sept. 19, to close out the nonconference portion of their season last week.
Florida State (8-0) continues to hold on to the top spot, while Duke (7-0) moves into No. 2 this week. Rounding out the top five are UCLA (8-0), North Carolina (7-1) and LSU (8-0), who is making its first appearance in the top five this season.
Big 12 foe TCU also is featured in the poll, as the Horned Frogs drop to No. 8 this week after falling to then-No. 9 Pepperdine on Sept. 16.
West Virginia is set to begin Big 12 Conference play on Friday, Sept. 24, as the squad welcomes Iowa State to Morgantown. Kickoff at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is tabbed for 7 p.m. ET, and the match will be streamed live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
