
West Virginia Stays at No. 4

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – For the second consecutive week, the West Virginia University men's soccer team was placed at No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men's National Poll, which was released on Tuesday.
WVU (4-0-2) played to a 2-2, double-overtime draw at then-No. 6 Marshall on Sept. 17, in Huntington, West Virginia. With the result, the Mountaineers moved to 2-0-1 against ranked opponents this season.
The ranking continues to match its highest by the organization since the 2006 campaign.
Georgetown remained at No. 1 this week, followed by No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Washington. Along with West Virginia, Marshall also represents the Mountain State in the top five.
Duke is up to No. 6 in this week's poll, ahead of No. 7 Maryland and No. 8 Tulsa, while No. 9 New Hampshire and No. 10 Kentucky rounded out the top 10.
Along with WVU, Mid-American Conference members Bowling Green and Akron also appeared in the poll at No. 17 and No. 20, respectively. Additionally, Northern Illinois received votes.
Elsewhere, WVU jumped two spots to No. 4 in this week's College Soccer News poll, while remaining at No. 10 by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
The Mountaineers return home to take on Dayton on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium in Morgantown, marking the first of three straight home matches for the squad. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
