MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women's basketball coach
Mike Carey announced the addition of Joey White as the team's video coordinator on Thursday.
"I'm so thankful for coach Carey and the entire women's basketball staff for the opportunity to continue working at West Virginia," White said. "This historic program has been an important part of my life, and I look forward to serving the coaches and players in this new role."
"I am happy that Joey has accepted this position as video coordinator," Carey said. "He has been a valued member of our program as a student manager and practice player, and he is ready to take this next step. Joey has earned this opportunity."
White joins the WVU women's basketball staff after spending the 2020-21 season as the team's head manager. As video coordinator, his responsibilities include helping the coaching staff with scouting and recruiting, as well as preparing video for instructional use. He also oversees the Mountaineers' practice team.
In his prior role as head manager, White was responsible for practice and gameday operations both at home and on the road. He also assisted with social media content creation, office work and recruiting visits.
During his undergraduate career, White was a WVU practice player and helped with women's basketball social media during home games. He also spent three seasons calling women's basketball for WVU's college radio station, U92, including the Big 12 tournament run in 2018.
White graduated from West Virginia University in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and minors in Spanish and sport communications. He is currently pursuing two master's degrees in sport management and athletic coaching education.
A native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Joey resides in Morgantown.
