MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior David Dixon of the West Virginia University men's swimming and diving team is tabbed to compete at the 2021 U.S. Olympic Team Swimming Trials on June 15 and 17, at the CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dixon will swim as part of Wave II of the two-part Olympic Trials, competing in the 200 butterfly on Tuesday and the 200 individual medley on Thursday. Live results from the trials are available at OmegaTiming.com, while the meet will be broadcast live on NBC and other NBC networks.

"This is a special event for our sport, as the very best come together to compete for the right to represent the United States at the Olympics," WVU coach Vic Riggs said. "It's an honor to have David represent the Flying WV at Olympic Trials, and we look forward to his swims this week."
A four-time NCAA qualifier, Dixon finished 12th overall in the 200 fly at the 2021 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors for the first time in his career. The Richmond, Virginia, native's finals time of 1:41.90 at the NCAA Championships was just shy of the program record in the event (1:41.59), which he set in 2019, and earned him a fourth-place finish in the 200 fly consolation final.
"I'm just really looking forward to getting out there and experiencing the biggest meet in the nation," Dixon said. "I've never been to a pool or a meet like this one, and to be at Olympic Trials and watch people make the Olympic Team is going to be something really special."
Additionally, Dixon is a four-time All-Big 12 First Team honoree, and he won a pair of Big 12 individual championships in the 100 and 200 butterfly events at the 2019 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship. This season, he became the first Mountaineer from the men's team to qualify for the NCAA Championships in four consecutive seasons.
