MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following a comeback win against Oklahoma State, the West Virginia University women's basketball team prepares to play host to Kansas State on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
Opening tip against the Wildcats is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, West Virginia's home games will take place without spectators in the WVU Coliseum through Sunday, Jan. 24. Only essential game operations personnel and families of the players and women's basketball staff will be admitted into the arena. Gates will open at 5 p.m., for essential game operations personnel and at 6 p.m., for members of the media who have requested a credential for Wednesday's game. Credential pick-up will be located at the Gold Gate.
West Virginia (10-2, 4-2 Big 12) and Kansas State (5-4, 0-2 Big 12) are set to meet on the basketball
court for the 19th time on Wednesday. WVU leads the all-time series, 12-6, including a 6-2 mark when playing in Morgantown. The Mountaineers' last win against the Wildcats came on Jan. 5, 2020, when WVU defeated KSU, 74-63, at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas.

Kirsten Deans led the West Virginia scoring attack and finished with a team-high 18 points. Junior forward
Kari Niblack and junior guard
Madisen Smith also finished in double figures, each scoring 14 points. Sophomore forward
Esmery Martinez led WVU in rebounding and tallied her seventh consecutive double-double, with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Down by 12 with 5:58 remaining in the third quarter, West Virginia scored 24 points in the final 10 minutes to secure the win. The Mountaineers have won two games this season after trailing by 10 or more points.
Kansas State has not competed since Dec. 21, due to a pause in team activities related to COVID-19. The Wildcats have had five contests postponed over the last 30 days, including a game against the Mountaineers, which was originally scheduled for Jan. 5, in Manhattan. KSU is currently on a two-game skid, dating back to Dec. 18. Last time out, the Wildcats suffered a 62-52 loss to then-No. 20 Texas.
