WVU Continues Homestand Against Bulls, Colonials

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After a 2-0 season-opening weekend, the West Virginia University tennis team continues its two-week homestand with matches against Buffalo on Friday, Feb. 7, and George Washington on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown.
"We are looking forward to our second week of competition," WVU coach Miha Lisac said. "Our goals for the weekend include building up on last week's matches and improving in singles and doubles."
Friday's match against Buffalo is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET. at the Summit Tennis Academy.
The Mountaineers lead the series, 5-2, with their first meeting coming in 2013 in Buffalo, New York. West Virginia has won its last five matches over Buffalo, with its most recent win coming in 2019 by a score of 6-1.
Buffalo enters the match with a 2-0 record, defeating St. Bonaventure, 7-0, and Niagara, 7-0, on Jan. 31.
West Virginia completes its weekend with a Saturday afternoon matchup against George Washington, starting at noon.
In the series against George Washington, the Colonials lead the Mountaineers, 13-11, with the first meeting coming in 1982. The last meeting between the Mountaineers and the Colonials was in 2018, when West Virginia won 4-3 in Morgantown.
The Colonials come to Morgantown with a 2-2 record with wins over Morgan State, 5-2, and Coppin State, 4-1. George Washington's two losses are from William & Mary, 4-0, and Duquesne, 5-2.
