WVU Set for Two Duals in Akron

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team embarks on its first road trip of the season this weekend, as the Mountaineers travel to Akron, Ohio, for a pair of matches against Akron and Seton Hall from Feb. 15-16.
"We are looking forward to a long competition on the road this weekend," WVU coach Miha Lisac said. "We are aiming to build upon previous weeks of competition."
The weekend duals kick off on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 9 a.m. ET, against Akron at the LaTuchie Tennis Center.
The Mountaineers lead the series against the Zips 12-4 all-time, with the first meeting in the series occurring in 1985. West Virginia looks to keep their four-match win streak going against Akron, with its most recent win coming in 2019 by a score of 4-3.
Akron enters the weekend with a 0-4 record and is scheduled to face Seton Hall on Friday, Feb. 14. The Zips have suffered losses to Army, Cincinnati, Oakland and Notre Dame this season.
West Virginia finishes the weekend with a matchup against Seton Hall on Sunday, Feb. 16. First serve against the Pirates is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the LaTuchie Tennis Center in Akron.
In the series against Seton Hall, the Mountaineers lead the series 14-11. The last meeting between the two teams came in 2012, a 4-2 Seton Hall victory. Prior to the loss in 2012, West Virginia had won the previous four meetings, dating back to 2008.
Seton Hall enters the weekend with a 1-3 record and is scheduled to square off with Akron later today. After a season-opening victory against Binghamton on Feb. 1, the Pirates have lost three consecutive matches to Georgetown, UConn and Drexel.
NOTES: The 2019-20 season marks the 47th year of competition for Mountaineer tennis, with the first season in 1974 ...
