MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University golf team is set to tee off for the first time this spring in a head-to-head match against Connecticut on Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Florida.
The Mountaineers and the Huskies will tee off in an 18-hole stroke play match, with players teeing off in pairs beginning at 7:30 a.m. ET. Six pairs will tee off on Sunday, with the top four scores counting toward the two teams' overall team scores.
"I'm really excited to get back to tournament action this spring," Mountaineer coach Sean Covich said. "Our guys have been working hard back home, and now we get to enjoy some golf in Florida against a really solid UConn team."
Senior Philipp Matlari, juniors Matthew Sharpstene, Logan Perkins and Mark Goetz, sophomore Kurtis Grant and freshman Nico Lang are tabbed to represent the Mountaineers in Kissimmee on Sunday.
West Virginia returns to competition for the first time since competing in the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational from Nov. 1-3, in Lahaina, Hawaii.
