Perkins Leads Field at Pioneer Creek

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University golf team's Logan Perkins leads the way after one round of play at the Pioneer Creek Collegiate on Saturday. The event is hosted by St. Thomas University at Pioneer Creek Golf Course in Maple Plain, Minn.
Perkins, who is playing as an individual, started with a bogey on hole No. 15 before rebounding with birdies on No. 16 and No. 18. He added birdies on the first three holes of the front nine before finishing the round with two more. The junior totaled seven birdies to shoot a 67 for five-under-par, sitting atop the leaderboard with a one-stroke lead.
Sophomore Kurtis Grant shot three over with a 75 and is tied for 36th.
The field consists of 94 players from Baylor, Oklahoma, Purdue, Texas A&M, NC State, Utah and local Minnesota schools. Play will resume Sunday at 9:30 a.m. ET with golfers slated to play 36 continuous holes.
