WVU Set for Tournament in Williamsburg

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team travels to Williamsburg, Virginia, to compete at the William & Mary Hall of Fame Classic from Sept. 27-29.
Each day of the tournament is set to begin at 9 a.m. ET and will take place at the Millie West Tennis Center in Williamsburg. The McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center will serve as the indoor backup. Results will be posted on WVUsports.com following the conclusion of each day.
"It's going to be a good weekend of competition against quality teams," WVU coach Miha Lisac said. "We're looking to build off the success and competitive situations from last weekend and use that going into this tournament."
The William & Mary Hall of Fame Classic is being held in conjunction with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's Hall of Fame Weekend. The induction ceremony will occur on Saturday at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center, in Williamsburg.
Along with the Mountaineers, William & Mary is set to host six other teams, including Maryland, Miami (Fla.), Liberty, Old Dominion, Penn State and VCU.
In Friday's tournament opener, West Virginia opens doubles play against Miami and Liberty in two separate matches. In singles, WVU is scheduled to square off against William & Mary.
West Virginia goes toe-to-toe with Old Dominion to begin day two. In Saturday's afternoon cap, the Mountaineers are set to take on Liberty in singles play.
In Sunday's tournament finale, WVU and Liberty will once again square off in doubles action. West Virginia and VCU are scheduled to go head-to-head in the final singles action of the weekend to cap tournament play.

Sophomores Giovanna Caputo and Anne-Sophie Courteau and freshman Kat Lyman lead the Mountaineers with five total wins this fall ... the trio also is tied for the team lead in singles wins, with each posting a 3-0 singles record at Thunder in the Mountains ... Caputo, Courteau, Lyman and senior Christina Jordan lead the team with two doubles victories ... in the opening weekend of the fall season, West Virginia posted a 12-5 record in singles play ... WVU posted six two-set victories in singles play at Thunder in the Mountains.
