MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Redshirt senior Madelin Gardner of the West Virginia University track and field team has been named the 2019 Mid-Atlantic Region Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced on Friday.
Gardner earned a career-best and school-record jump of 4.47 meters (14 feet, 8 inches) in the pole vault at the Virginia Challenge, on April 20, in Charlottesville, Virginia, ranking No. 1 in the region and No. 6 nationally this outdoor season.
