Hill, Warren Reach Podium to Open Big 12s

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Redshirt junior Olivia Hill and redshirt freshman Bree Warren of the West Virginia University track and field team earned trips to the podium on the opening night of the 2019 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, in Norman, Oklahoma, on Friday.
Hill finished fourth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 35:06.32, while Warren placed fifth in the event in a career-best 35:07.97. Redshirt sophomore Sarah Wills also competed, finishing ninth in 37:10.95. The top-eight competitors in each event earn podium spots.
The Mountaineers tallied nine points as a team to begin the three-day meet at Oklahoma's John Jacobs Track Complex. WVU sits in a tie for fifth place following Friday's action.
The event continues on Saturday, with action set to begin at 11 a.m. ET. Sunday's events are scheduled to commence at 3:30 p.m.

This weekend's meet features three women's programs ranked in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top 25: No. 13 Kansas State, No. 14 Texas Tech and No. 17 Texas. The meet also features five teams in the nation's top 40 of the Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) and nine in the top 80.
