MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following a pair of wins over No.19-ranked Oklahoma and a victory against in-state foe Marshall, sophomore catcher Paul McIntosh of the West Virginia University baseball team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.

McIntosh led the Mountaineers with six hits, two home runs, six RBIs, a .333 batting average and a .722 slugging percentage in West Virginia's 3-1 week last week.

McIntosh led the team with three hits and three RBIs with a home run and two runs scored in a 15-3 win at Marshall on Wednesday. In Saturday's 12-4 win against Oklahoma, he homered again and led the team with two hits and three RBIs, while he finished the week with a hit in Sunday's series-clinching victory over OU.

McIntosh's two home runs tied for second-most in the Big 12 Conference, while he was sixth with six RBIs, 13 total bases and a .722 slugging percentage. On the season, McIntosh leads the team with seven home runs and a .526 slugging percentage, is tied for the team lead with 18 RBIs and is third with 25 hits and 50 total bases.

This Week in Baseball: The Mountaineers begin the month of April at home with the Backyard Brawl before Big 12 play continues this weekend at No. 23 Oklahoma State … the week commences against Pitt, on Wednesday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m. ET, at Monongalia County Ballpark … tickets are available at WVUGAME.com, by calling 1-800-WVU GAME, at the Mountaineer Ticket Office at the WVU Coliseum or on game day at Monongalia County Ballpark … the rivalry matchup is a Dollar Day, with tickets and select concession items available for just $1, and fans also can play Baseball Bingo … the series between WVU and OSU in Stillwater, Oklahoma, begins on Friday, April 5, at 7:05 p.m. ET, in a contest broadcast on FCS … Saturday's matchup is set for a 3:05 p.m. first pitch at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium … the series concludes on Sunday, at 2:05 p.m., and the game will air on FCS.

Last Week in Baseball: WVU went 3-1 last week, with a midweek win at Marshall before a series victory against No. 19 Oklahoma at Monongalia County Ballpark … West Virginia used a nine-run third inning to beat Marshall, 15-3, on March 27, in Charleston … the 15 runs against MU was a season high, while the pitching staff allowed just three hits … the Mountaineers scored in each of the first four innings to lead 13-0 in the middle of the fourth, and the offense was aided by 11 walks, including four with the bases loaded … sophomore designated hitter Paul McIntosh had a season-high-tying three hits and three RBIs to pace the offense … junior lefty Nick Snyder earned his team-best fourth win to improve to 4-1, and allowed one unearned run on two hits in 4.0 innings … the Mountaineers opened the series against No. 19 OU with a 2-1 loss on March 29 … both teams had five hits, but the Sooners scored two in the second which proved to be the difference … junior right-hander Alek Manoah had his fifth quality start in seven starts this year, and allowed two runs on three hits with three strikeouts and four walks in 7.1 innings … West Virginia evened the series the next day with a 12-4 win on March 30, as the Mountaineers scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning and added an eight-run eighth … WVU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, and led 3-0 after four, but OU rallied to tie the game in the sixth inning … McIntosh led the team with two hits and three RBIs, as he homered in the fourth inning and had a two-RBI single in the eighth … sophomore righty Tristen Hudson earned the win, his first of the year, and held OU to one hit with a strikeout in 1.2 innings … West Virginia won the series against Oklahoma with a 5-1 victory on Sunday, as WVU jumped out to an early lead and never trailed for the second consecutive day … junior right-handed starter Kade Strowd earned the win and improves to 3-2 in 2019 … In 5.0 innings, he allowed a run on three hits with seven strikeouts and eight walks … junior righty Sam Kessler collected his fourth save of the season and retired all four batters he faced … junior first baseman Marques Inman provided the offense, with a two-run home run in the third inning and three total RBIs in the win.

Notes: West Virginia is 16-11 on the season, 8-1 at home and 2-4 in Big 12 play … WVU is 3-3 against top-25 teams and 8-7 against teams that made the 2018 NCAA Tournament … the Mountaineers are 15-5 when scoring first and 9-5 when scoring in the first inning … coach Randy Mazey became the fourth-winningest coach in program history, with his 205th victory on Sunday … Mazey, who is 205-165 in seven seasons at WVU, passes Ira Errett Rodgers, who was 204-209-4 from 1921-42, 1946 … West Virginia has won six in a row and eight of its last nine games against Marshall … WVU extended its lead in the all-time series to 47-24 and is 17-3 since 1993 in the in-state series … sophomore catcher Paul McIntosh hit two home runs last week and has a team-best seven on the season … on Friday, junior right-hander Alek Manoah earned his fifth quality start in seven starts in 2019 and the eighth quality start of his career … a season-high crowd of 2,073 fans saw WVU beat No. 19 Oklahoma on March 30 … junior first baseman Marques Inman hit his fifth home run of the season and 14th of his career in the third inning of Sunday's win.

This Week in Women's Basketball: West Virginia's season has come to an end.

Last Week in Women's Basketball: The Mountaineers' 2018-19 season came to an end with a 56-54 loss to Northwestern in the third round of the 2019 Postseason WNIT in Morgantown on Wednesday … WVU had three players in double figures, led by 17 points from redshirt junior Tynice Martin … freshman forward Kari Niblack had 14 points, while senior forward Naomi Davenport just missed a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds … the Mountaineers led by as many as 18 points, but hit just eight second-half field goals.

Notes: WVU caps the season with a 22-11 overall record and an 11-7 mark in Big 12 play … it was the 17th 20-win season in program history and 13th under coach Mike Carey … the Mountaineers made their 18th postseason appearance all-time and the 13th straight with their 2019 Postseason WNIT berth … WVU collected a pair of wins over top-25 teams, defeating No. 18 Iowa State at home and No. 12 Texas on the road … it marked West Virginia's first-ever win over Texas in Austin … the Mountaineers finished the year with six Academic All-Big 12 honorees, four Big 12 honorees and seven weekly Big 12 honors … Davenport and Katrina Pardee each crossed the 1,000 point plateau this season … following the conclusion of the season, Martin announced she would forgo entry into the 2019 WNBA Draft and remain at WVU to finish her career.
This Week in Gymnastics: The Mountaineers compete in the second of two second-round meets at the 2019 NCAA Ann Arbor Regional Championships on Friday, April 5, at 7 p.m., at the University of Michigan's Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan … WVU will compete against No. 2 UCLA, No. 14 Nebraska and the winner of Illinois – Central Michigan … the top-two teams from the meet will advance to compete in the third round on Saturday, April 6, at 7 p.m.

Last Week in Gymnastics: WVU (19-12, 0-7) did not compete last week.

Notes: Competing in the first second-round meet is No. 7 Michigan, No. 10 Alabama, No. 23 Penn State and Ohio State … the top-two teams from this meet also will advance to the third round on Saturday … WVU opens the meet Friday on floor exercise … the Mountaineers' complete rotation order is floor exercise, vault, uneven bars and balance beam … WVU is 2-2 against the Ann Arbor field this season … the regional bid is WVU's 40th and 35th in NCAA competition … on March 27, senior Kirah Koshinski was named to the NACGC/W Regular-Season All-America Vault First Team, her first career first-team honor … Koshinski is the first gymnast in program history to earn at least one All-America award in each of her four seasons at WVU, as she was named to the vault second team as a freshman, sophomore and junior … she is the fourth Mountaineer gymnast to earn at least one career first-team recognition and the first since Janae Cox earned NCAA All-America First Team Floor honors in 2007 … with four career All-America awards, Koshinski ranks No. 2 in program history behind Kristin Quackenbush (six awards, 1994-96).

This Week in Track & Field: The Mountaineers travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday, April 6, for a meet against Virginia, Maryland and Pitt.

Last Week in Track & Field: WVU competed at four meets last weekend … on Thursday, redshirt freshman Katherine Dowie placed fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:35.96 at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in Hayward, California … redshirt freshman Mikenna Vanderheyden also competed in the event, finishing in 23rd … on Friday, redshirt freshman Hayley Jackson placed 15th in the 5,000 meters (section 2) with a time of 16:20.50 at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, California … redshirt junior Olivia Hill placed 21st in the 10,000 meters (section 2), crossing the finish line in 34:28.43 … on Saturday, redshirt senior Madelin Gardner competed at the 92nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, finishing 10th in the pole vault (university elite) with a mark of 4.10 meters (13 feet, 5.25 inches) … WVU also competed at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina, from March 29-30 … redshirt junior Candace Jones led the way with a 14th-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:10.54, while redshirt senior Bria Welker took 14th in the 400 meters in 56.61.

Notes: WVU is traveling to Virginia for the first of two outdoor meets this season … the Mountaineers will return to Lannigan Field for the Virginia Challenge on April 19-20 … this weekend marks the eighth time WVU will compete at Virginia for an outdoor meet since 2014 … Gardner enters the week ranked No. 29 nationally in the pole vault with a top mark of 4.10 meters (13 feet, 5.25 inches) … redshirt senior Shamoya McNeil ranks No. 32 nationally in the triple jump (12.74 meters – 41 feet, 9.75 inches), while Dowie ranks No. 50 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:35.96) … Jackson is nationally ranked in a pair of events: 5,000 meters (36th – 16:20.50) and 1,500 meters (43rd – 4:23.15).

This Week in Swimming & Diving: The Mountaineers have concluded the 2018-19 season.

Last Week in Swimming & Diving: Senior Jake Armstrong and sophomore David Dixon competed at the 2019 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, from March 28-30, in Austin, Texas … Armstrong finished his WVU career with a 34th-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 53.23 … Dixon placed 20th in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:42.49, as well as 46th in the 100 butterfly (47.03) and 59th in the 200 individual medley (1:45.93).

Notes: Armstrong and Dixon competed in their second career NCAA Championships … the duo joined junior Morgan Bullock of the women's team as NCAA qualifiers … WVU finishes the season after the men earned a second-place finish at the Big 12 Championship for the fourth consecutive season, while the women took third … Dixon won two individual conference titles (100, 200 fly), becoming WVU's first multiple-time conference champion in the same season since 2014 … the Mountaineers combined to break nine school records this season, including eight at the conference meet … West Virginia also combined to place 20 on the All-Big 12 teams, including nine on the first team … nine divers qualified for the Zone A Diving Championships in March, the most since 2016 … in the classroom, the two teams combined to place 29 on the Academic All-Big 12 teams, and both were named Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) in January.

This Week in Rowing: West Virginia is off this week ... WVU next competes on Sunday, April 14, when it travels to Fairfax Station, Virginia, for the George Mason Invite ... this year's regatta will take place on the Occoquan Reservoir.

Last Week in Rowing: The Mountaineers were scheduled to compete at the 2019 Occoquan Sprints on Sunday, March 31, in Fairfax Station ... due to inclement weather in the area of Sandy Run Regional Park, the regatta was canceled ... prior to the cancellation, six WVU boats were scheduled to compete in four different events.

Notes: WVU is set to compete at the George Mason Invite for the third consecutive season ... the Mountaineers will compete alongside other Big 12 members for a chance to claim a conference victory for the third consecutive year ... at last year's George Mason Invite, West Virginia raced its way to two event final wins ... WVU helped the Big 12 Conference claim 41 points to defeat the Colonial Athletic Association (36 points) and the Atlantic 10 Conference (31 points).

This Week in Tennis: WVU (10-7, 0-5 Big 12) travels to Kansas this weekend for a pair of dual matches against Kansas State and Kansas ... Friday's contest against the Wildcats is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET in Manhattan ... Sunday's matchup against the Jayhawks is set for 12 p.m. in Lawrence.

Last Week in Tennis: The Mountaineers secured a pair of sweeps against California (Pa.), 7-0, and Towson, 7-0 ... with the win over Cal U, coach Miha Lisac earned his 100th career victory ... Saturday's victories over Cal U and Towson also marked the first 10-win season for the Mountaineers since 2010 ... after sweeping the Vulcans and Tigers, West Virginia now has four sweeps of an opponent this season, the most since 2008 (6) ... all nine Mountaineers saw action during Saturday's nonconference doubleheader, including senior Kirsten White, who made her spring debut against the Vulcans ... freshman Nicole Roc and senior Abigail Rosiello led the team with four wins on the weekend.

Notes: West Virginia owns a 121-114 record against 2019 opponents but has yet to record a win against Kansas State or Kansas ... in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)/Oracle team rankings, the Wildcats ranked No. 48 nationally, while the Jayhawks checked in at No. 17 ... sophomore Anne-Sophie Courteau leads the team in singles wins (11) and total wins (20) ... Courteau and Rosiello are tied for the team lead with nine doubles victories.

This Week in Golf: West Virginia travels to Kannapolis, North Carolina, for the Irish Creek Collegiate … UNC Charlotte is set to host the event on Saturday and Sunday at the Club at Irish Creek … the Mountaineers took sixth place at the event in 2019 … then-freshman Mark Goetz finished fourth at last season's event.

Last Week in Golf: The Mountaineers wrapped up the final two days of play at The Hootie at Bull's Bay in Awendaw, South Carolina, on Monday and Tuesday of last week … WVU finished ninth in the event … Matthew Sharpstene and Logan Perkins led the way for the Mountaineers, who shot 287- 287-291= 865 for one-over par … South Carolina took home the team title at 22 under with an 842, followed by Big 12 foe Kansas at 15-under par with a score of 849 ... WVU finished ahead of then-No. 4 Duke, who claimed 10th at three-over par … Sharpstene and Perkins took 13th and 16th place, respectively.

Notes: WVU has defeated five programs ranked in the top 25 of GolfWeek's latest rankings … the Mountaineers boast wins over No. 9 Duke, No. 11 Cal, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 21 Louisville and No. 23 Illinois this season … sophomore Matthew Sharpstene leads the team with a 70.90 scoring average for -0.38 vs. par … Sharpstene's T-13th finish at The Hootie marked his second consecutive top-15 finish and his fifth of the season … fellow sophomore Logan Perkins picked up his third top-20 finish of the season and his first in the starting lineup … WVU will host the 2019 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship from April 26-28, on The Old White TPC at The Greenbrier, in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
