McIntosh Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following a pair of wins over No.19-ranked Oklahoma and a victory against in-state foe Marshall, sophomore catcher Paul McIntosh of the West Virginia University baseball team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
McIntosh led the Mountaineers with six hits, two home runs, six RBIs, a .333 batting average and a .722 slugging percentage in West Virginia's 3-1 week last week.
McIntosh led the team with three hits and three RBIs with a home run and two runs scored in a 15-3 win at Marshall on Wednesday. In Saturday's 12-4 win against Oklahoma, he homered again and led the team with two hits and three RBIs, while he finished the week with a hit in Sunday's series-clinching victory over OU.
McIntosh's two home runs tied for second-most in the Big 12 Conference, while he was sixth with six RBIs, 13 total bases and a .722 slugging percentage. On the season, McIntosh leads the team with seven home runs and a .526 slugging percentage, is tied for the team lead with 18 RBIs and is third with 25 hits and 50 total bases.

Last Week in Swimming & Diving: Senior Jake Armstrong and sophomore David Dixon competed at the 2019 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, from March 28-30, in Austin, Texas … Armstrong finished his WVU career with a 34th-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 53.23 … Dixon placed 20th in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:42.49, as well as 46th in the 100 butterfly (47.03) and 59th in the 200 individual medley (1:45.93).
Notes: Armstrong and Dixon competed in their second career NCAA Championships … the duo joined junior Morgan Bullock of the women's team as NCAA qualifiers … WVU finishes the season after the men earned a second-place finish at the Big 12 Championship for the fourth consecutive season, while the women took third … Dixon won two individual conference titles (100, 200 fly), becoming WVU's first multiple-time conference champion in the same season since 2014 … the Mountaineers combined to break nine school records this season, including eight at the conference meet … West Virginia also combined to place 20 on the All-Big 12 teams, including nine on the first team … nine divers qualified for the Zone A Diving Championships in March, the most since 2016 … in the classroom, the two teams combined to place 29 on the Academic All-Big 12 teams, and both were named Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) in January.
This Week in Rowing: West Virginia is off this week ... WVU next competes on Sunday, April 14, when it travels to Fairfax Station, Virginia, for the George Mason Invite ... this year's regatta will take place on the Occoquan Reservoir.
Last Week in Rowing: The Mountaineers were scheduled to compete at the 2019 Occoquan Sprints on Sunday, March 31, in Fairfax Station ... due to inclement weather in the area of Sandy Run Regional Park, the regatta was canceled ... prior to the cancellation, six WVU boats were scheduled to compete in four different events.
Notes: WVU is set to compete at the George Mason Invite for the third consecutive season ... the Mountaineers will compete alongside other Big 12 members for a chance to claim a conference victory for the third consecutive year ... at last year's George Mason Invite, West Virginia raced its way to two event final wins ... Last Week in Swimming & Diving: Senior Jake Armstrong and sophomore David Dixon competed at the 2019 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, from March 28-30, in Austin, Texas … Armstrong finished his WVU career with a 34th-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 53.23 … Dixon placed 20th in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:42.49, as well as 46th in the 100 butterfly (47.03) and 59th in the 200 individual medley (1:45.93).
Notes: Armstrong and Dixon competed in their second career NCAA Championships … the duo joined junior Morgan Bullock of the women's team as NCAA qualifiers … WVU finishes the season after the men earned a second-place finish at the Big 12 Championship for the fourth consecutive season, while the women took third … Dixon won two individual conference titles (100, 200 fly), becoming WVU's first multiple-time conference champion in the same season since 2014 … the Mountaineers combined to break nine school records this season, including eight at the conference meet … West Virginia also combined to place 20 on the All-Big 12 teams, including nine on the first team … nine divers qualified for the Zone A Diving Championships in March, the most since 2016 … in the classroom, the two teams combined to place 29 on the Academic All-Big 12 teams, and both were named Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) in January.
This Week in Rowing: West Virginia is off this week ... WVU next competes on Sunday, April 14, when it travels to Fairfax Station, Virginia, for the George Mason Invite ... this year's regatta will take place on the Occoquan Reservoir.
Last Week in Rowing: The Mountaineers were scheduled to compete at the 2019 Occoquan Sprints on Sunday, March 31, in Fairfax Station ... due to inclement weather in the area of Sandy Run Regional Park, the regatta was canceled ... prior to the cancellation, six WVU boats were scheduled to compete in four different events.
Notes: WVU is set to compete at the George Mason Invite for the third consecutive season ... the Mountaineers will compete alongside other Big 12 members for a chance to claim a conference victory for the third consecutive year ... at last year's George Mason Invite, West Virginia raced its way to two event final wins ... WVU helped the Big 12 Conference claim 41 points to defeat the Colonial Athletic Association (36 points) and the Atlantic 10 Conference (31 points).
This Week in Tennis: WVU (10-7, 0-5 Big 12) travels to Kansas this weekend for a pair of dual matches against Kansas State and Kansas ... Friday's contest against the Wildcats is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET in Manhattan ... Sunday's matchup against the Jayhawks is set for 12 p.m. in Lawrence.
Last Week in Tennis: The Mountaineers secured a pair of sweeps against California (Pa.), 7-0, and Towson, 7-0 ... with the win over Cal U, coach Miha Lisac earned his 100th career victory ... Saturday's victories over Cal U and Towson also marked the first 10-win season for the Mountaineers since 2010 ... after sweeping the Vulcans and Tigers, West Virginia now has four sweeps of an opponent this season, the most since 2008 (6) ... all nine Mountaineers saw action during Saturday's nonconference doubleheader, including senior Kirsten White, who made her spring debut against the Vulcans ... freshman Nicole Roc and senior Abigail Rosiello led the team with four wins on the weekend.

Courteau and Rosiello are tied for the team lead with nine doubles victories.
This Week in Golf: West Virginia travels to Kannapolis, North Carolina, for the Irish Creek Collegiate … UNC Charlotte is set to host the event on Saturday and Sunday at the Club at Irish Creek … the Mountaineers took sixth place at the event in 2019 … then-freshman Mark Goetz finished fourth at last season's event.
Last Week in Golf: The Mountaineers wrapped up the final two days of play at The Hootie at Bull's Bay in Awendaw, South Carolina, on Monday and Tuesday of last week … WVU finished ninth in the event … Matthew Sharpstene and Logan Perkins led the way for the Mountaineers, who shot 287- 287-291= 865 for one-over par … South Carolina took home the team title at 22 under with an 842, followed by Big 12 foe Kansas at 15-under par with a score of 849 ... WVU finished ahead of then-No. 4 Duke, who claimed 10th at three-over par … Sharpstene and Perkins took 13th and 16th place, respectively.
