Box Score 2 MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team (10-7, 0-5 Big 12) dominated the competition from the start in today's nonconference doubleheader, as the Mountaineers defeated California University of Pennsylvania, 7-0, and Towson, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown.
The win over Cal U marked coach
Miha Lisac's 100th career win. The triumph also was WVU's 10th of the season, marking the Mountaineers' first 10-win season since 2010 (17-7).
With sweeps over the Vulcans and Tigers, West Virginia has recorded four sweeps of an opponent this season. It marks the most sweeps over an opponent since 2008, when the Mountaineers recorded eight.
"One of the reasons why we play a doubleheader is to get a lot of match play in in one day, and I thought, overall, we handled it well," said Lisac. "I thought we were able to get some work done, especially a few players who weren't as comfortable with their games or game plans before. I think we were able to get some of the work done, and overall, I would say it was a good day."
