MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rowing team travels to Fairfax Station, Virginia, on Sunday, March 31, to compete at the Occoquan Sprints, hosted by the Occoquan Boat Club.
Sunday's regatta will begin at 10 a.m. ET, with all races taking place on the Occoquan Reservoir at Sandy Run Regional Park. There will be no live results page, but following the conclusion of the regatta, results will be posted on WVUsports.com.
"We're continuing to do good work at home, but unlike last weekend, we need to take that good work on the road," said coach Jimmy King. "And while we did a decent job of keeping it internal during racing, we raced a bit tight, so we'll also strive to race poised and relaxed this weekend."
West Virginia travels to compete at the Occoquan Sprints for the first time since 2012. WVU last competed on the Occoquan Reservoir in the fall, when the novice squad competed at the Head of the Occoquan on Nov. 3.
Six WVU boats are scheduled to compete in four different events – Women's Varsity 8+ (2 entries), Women's Second Vasity 8+, Women's Varsity 4+ (2 entries) and Women's Frosh/Novice 4+.
The Mountaineers are scheduled to compete with 10 other colleges and universities, including George Mason, Georgetown, James Madison, Liberty, Loyola (Md.), Robert Morris and Maryland. Sunday's field includes entrants from Division I, II and III, as well as various club programs.
At last year's Occoquan Sprints, Georgetown claimed first-place finishes in the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four events.
A recap of Sunday's action will be available on WVUsports.com.
