MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team is set to conclude its fall tournament season this weekend, as the Mountaineers travel to Nicholasville, Kentucky, to compete at the Kentucky Invite from Nov. 1-3.
This weekend's tournament is hosted by Kentucky and is set to take place at the Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville. There are no live stats for the tournament; however, results and a full recap will be posted on WVUsports.com following the conclusion of each day.
"It will be a great weekend for us to get better and progress as we finish the fall tournament season," WVU coach Miha Lisac said. "The competition we will face will give us an opportunity to prepare for tough matches in the spring semester."
Along with the host Wildcats, West Virginia is set to compete against DePaul, Miami (Ohio), Penn State, Utah and Virginia Tech. This marks WVU's first appearance at the Kentucky Invite.
Each day of tournament action is scheduled to begin in doubles play at 9 a.m. ET. Each day will feature two rounds of singles' matches, which are set to begin at 10 a.m., tentatively. Following the conclusion of the first round of singles, the second round is scheduled to begin after 12 p.m.
This year's Kentucky Invite will be played in a round-robin, hidden-duel format.
Notes: WVU has compiled a combined record of 50-33 (33-21 in singles, 17-12 in doubles) through five tournaments ... junior Anne-Sophie Courteau leads the Mountaineers with an overall record of 15-8 ... Courteau and freshman Kat Lyman are tied for the team lead in singles wins, with eight ... Courteau also leads the team in doubles wins, with seven ... junior Giovanna Caputo leads the team in win percentage (.667) ... sophomore Anastasiia Bovolskaia (11), Caputo (10), Courteau (15) and Lyman (14) have each posted 10 wins this fall ... Bovolskaia's appearance in the ITA round of 16 singles marks WVU's first appearance in the third round since 2017, when Lyn Yuen Choo reached the round of 16 after upsetting No.14-seed Ines Milosevic of Penn State, 6-0, 6-3.
