MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team concluded play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's Atlantic Regional on Sunday evening at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Virginia.
"We had a good tournament overall, and I feel that we can say we made progress," WVU coach Miha Lisac said. "At the same time, the progress is starting to yield solid results, and I am happy that the players are beginning to enjoy the results of their work."
Doubles Recap
In the quarterfinals of the doubles main draw, junior Anne-Sophie Courteau and freshman Kat Lyman squared off with No. 5-seed Sofia Munera and Amber O'Dell of Virginia. The UVA duo got the better of Courteau and Lyman and defeated them, 8-5, to end WVU's run in doubles play.
Courteau and Lyman's appearance in the quarterfinals of the doubles main draw marked WVU's first appearance in the fourth round since 2013, when Kaja Mrgole and Oana Manole represented West Virginia against William & Mary's Maria Belaya and Jeltje Loomans.
Singles Recap
After advancing to the singles round of 32 for the second consecutive year, sophomore Anastasiia Bovolskaia matched up against Navy's Kacey Moore. After winning the first set handily, 6-1, the native of Irkutsk, Russia, stumbled in the second set, 3-6, as Moore forced the tiebreaker.
