MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following two weeks away from competition, the West Virginia University tennis team returns to Morgantown to host the annual Martha Thorn Invitational from Oct. 18-20.
Each day of the tournament is set to begin at 10 a.m. ET, and will take place at the Mountaineer Tennis Courts, as well as the Summit Tennis Academy indoor facility. Results will be posted on WVUsports.com following the conclusion of each day.
"It's always great when we get to stay at home and compete, especially after being away from competition for a couple of weeks" WVU coach Miha Lisac said. "We are looking forward to a good weekend of tennis for this year's tournament and continuing to prepare for the start of the spring season."
The Mountaineers welcome four teams to Morgantown this weekend, including Ball State, Delaware, George Washington and Navy. Delaware returns to Morgantown to compete at the Martha Thorn Invite for the second consecutive season, while Ball State, GW and Navy are set to make their first appearance at the event.
In Friday's tournament opener, West Virginia begins doubles play at 10 a.m. Following the conclusion of doubles, WVU caps the first day of tournament action in singles play at 11 a.m. Due to inclement weather, all matches will take place at the Summit Tennis Academy on Friday until 12 p.m.
West Virginia begins day two in doubles on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. The Mountaineers will conclude the second day of tournament action in singles play during Saturday's afternoon session at 11 a.m. Both matches are scheduled to take place at the Mountaineer Tennis Courts.
In Sunday's tournament finale, WVU will conclude the tournament in singles play at 11 a.m. at the Mountaineer Tennis Courts.
