Box Score Desmond Bane's 26 points led TCU to a 98-67 victory over West Virginia tonight at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
Â
The Horned Frogs, which missed six of their first seven shots, warmed up pretty quickly. TCU ended up hitting 12 triples and scoring 28 more at the free throw line on 37 attempts to come two points shy of eclipsing the 100-point barrier for the first time against a
Bob Huggins-coached Mountaineer team.Â
Â
The 31-point loss was West Virginia's worst since suffering a 39-point defeat against No. 1-ranked Kentucky in the Sweet 16 round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
Â
"There were nights when we've played pretty well, but tonight was embarrassing," West Virginia coach
Bob Huggins said.
Â
In a span of 126 games since the beginning of the 2015 season, the Mountaineers have lost by more than 20 points just three times, twice in 2015 and once last year.
Â
Tonight was the fourth.
Â
All eight players TCU coach Jamie Dixon put in the game got in the scoring column with six reaching double figures.Â
Â
In addition to Bane's 26, Alex Robinson scored 14, JD Miller 13, Kouat Noi and Lat Mayen 12 each, and Kevin Samuel finishing with 10.
Â
TCU (13-3, 2-2) shot 47.5 percent (29 of 61) from the floor, including 12 of 28 from 3.Â
Â
"They shot it – they made a lot of shots," Huggins said.
Â

TCU's largest lead was 35 with 2:21 remaining in the game.
Â
"They have kind of a breakout and our guy comes down and blocks his shot and their guy ran right by our next guy, caught it and dunked it in," Huggins said. "Now, you just make a great effort play and you turn around and there is your teammate jogging down the floor. That's not teamwork at all. And that's something we've never had."
Â
West Virginia, which has lost five straight for the first time since dropping its last seven to conclude the 2013 season, got a team-high 15 points from Beetle Bolden.Â
Â
Bolden only played 25 minutes after getting into early foul trouble.
Â
Wesley Harris was the only other Mountaineer to reach double figures with 13.
Â
Freshman
Derek Culver, coming off a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double in last Saturday's loss to Oklahoma State, scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds in 22 minutes.
Â
Starting guard
Jermaine Haley left the game with a left hand injury and returned to the bench with it wrapped. Huggins said on his postgame radio show that he didn't know the extent of Haley's injury.
Â
Turnovers once again were an issue for West Virginia tonight as the Mountaineers committed 17 miscues, two more than their season average. As was the case last Saturday against Oklahoma State, there were times when Huggins had as many as four freshman out on the floor at the same time.
Â
It was TCU's second-ever victory against West Virginia, both coming here during the last two years.
Â
"We've had teams that weren't very talented in the past but they tried," Huggins said. "West Virginians appreciate hard work. It's a state of hard-working people and I'm embarrassed."
Â
West Virginia (8-9, 0-5) has four days to get ready for seventh-ranked Kansas at the WVU Coliseum on Saturday afternoon. Tip time is 2 p.m.Â
