Seven Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Seven members of the West Virginia University track and field team were named All-Academic Individuals by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday.
USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards
Redshirt seniors Amy Cashin (counseling) and Jillian Forsey (exercise psychology), senior Shamoya McNeil (occupational therapy), junior Danique Bryan (nursing), redshirt sophomore Olivia Hill (exercise psychology), redshirt freshman Sarah Wills (biomedical engineering) and freshman McKenna Smith (occupational therapy) were recognized for their success on the track and in the classroom.
Additionally, the Mountaineers were named an All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA on Thursday. WVU earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.44 during the spring semester.
A total of 874 female student-athletes earned USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades this season, while 361 teams, including 220 women's programs, received team recognition.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Championships (including preliminary rounds).
Cashin, Forsey and Hill qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Regional during the outdoor season to earn All-Academic honors. Cashin also participated at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning All-America Second Team honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She also recorded All-America Second Team honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the mile.
McNeil and Bryan ranked No. 38 and No. 94, respectively, in the triple jump during indoor season, while Wills and Smith were members of the No. 45-ranked distance medley relay team this past winter to gain qualification for All-Academic distinction.
