
Cashin Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following a record-breaking performance and a pair of victories, redshirt senior Amy Cashin of the West Virginia University track and field team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Last Thursday, Cashin won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia, breaking the school record along the way. Cashin finished in 9:59.40, becoming the first Mountaineer to ever break the 10-minute barrier in the event. The Werribee, Victoria, Australia, native took down her previous WVU-best time of 10:01.19 from 2017.
The performance was good for the fourth-fastest in Penn Relays history and is the fastest in the Big 12 Conference and Mid-Atlantic Region this season.
Two days later, Cashin won her second event of the week, placing first in the women's 1,500 meters at the Virginia Grand Prix in Charlottesville, Virginia. Cashin earned a time of 4:21.56 in the victory.
